Who We Are
Pinner Design is a London based golf design practice working extensively throughout Europe. Michael Pinner has wide experience in the field and his time as a member of the design staff for Jack Nicklaus is complimented by a sophisticated knowledge and appreciation of the classic elements of British golf.
Our Philosophy
At Pinner Design we firmly believe that a golf course should encourage the greatest elements of the game. Imagination, patience, inventive shot making and good course management are often negated by penal courses with soft turf which demand only technical proficiency and power.

The golf courses of Pinner Design are designed around traditional strategic principles which pose a challenge for all abilities, and are built to exacting specifications which provide the firm, fine textured surfaces so essential for the enjoyment of classic golf.

The common elements found on all Pinner Design courses include:
Generous, contoured fairways
Effective, strategic hazards
Natural looking, firm, fine textured greens and approaches
Highly contoured, manicured green surrounds
Overall, a firm and well drained course available year-round

At Pinner Design,
we endeavour to provide a comprehensive and integrated approach to every project, whether a new development, restoration or upgrade.
Design, construction, establishment and maintenance must work in harmony and with the same, sound objectives. Put bluntly, a classical design can be greatly compromised by a poor build, or inappropriate turf management through naivety, or possibly a clash of golfing cultures.
As our aim is to provide for firm, fine textured conditions, it is clear that correctly specified and tested materials must be used in construction and that this must be complimented by judicious use of water and fertilisers through grow-in and long term maintenance.
Apart from upholding the best traditions of the game, there are other, considerable benefits. Turf is healthier and surfaces are more consistent year round. Costs of irrigation, nutrients and fungicides are lower, and the course environment as a whole becomes more sustainable.
Our experience throughout the UK and Continental Europe is that enlightened and progressive developers and clubs have grasped the opportunity to give their clients new levels of quality and playability, whilst simultaneously achieving economic business models and enhanced environmental stewardship.
